• 15 Har-Tru tennis courts (6 lighted)  & 7 elevated, lighted platform tennis courts
• Clubhouse featuring “cathedral ceiling” sitting area with TV’s & sound system
• Downstair’s “warming hut” area with firesplace & TV
• Large patio with barbecue facilities
• Men’s & women’s locker rooms with showers

Club & League Play

CLUB: URTC offers a range of tennis & paddle play at all ages & levels. An extensive “drop in” program is available.

LEAGUE: Spring men’s & women’s inter-club tennis leagues, and platform tennis leagues through the fall/winter. Support competition at a variety of skill levels, fielding 7 women’s & 5 men’ teams in Bergen County leagues.

Club Rules & Etiquette

ELIGIBILITY OF PLAY: Only members and their registered guest are entitled to use the courts and other Club facilities.

HOURS OF PLAY: Tennis will commence daily at 7:00 a.m. (or when court maintenance is complete) and will continue until dark. Courts 7 -12 are available for play until 10:00pm.

Junior Programs Overview

Junior development programs are offered for players from kindergarten age through high school. (We begin at 4 years old).

In each season, our junior clinics at The Upper Ridgewood Tennis Club may be found “in full swing.” These many opportunities afford our juniors a chance to learn in a fun, supportive, and positive environment. We offer both tennis and platform tennis to our juniors. To check out our latest programs and to download our forms, click the appropriate tab on the left.

COVID Safety

The URTC COVID-19 safety rules follow CDC and NJ public health guidelines. All members and guests are expected to comply with these safety rules, which are designed to protect the health of the URTC community. Members violating these rules may be subject to disciplinary action.

URTC Club History

The idea for a tennis club on the “hill” that we now know as “Upper Ridgewood” was originally conceived, circa 1912, by two young ladies, Miss Grace Kent and Miss Helen Gesner (later Mrs. Walter Tomkins).They gratefully accepted an offer of land from Mr. Walter Wilsey, one of their group. This tract, on what became Bedford Road, became the Club’s location for more than fifty years.
